Attorney Information
Attorney Mark A. Gallant has been licensed to practice law in Massachusetts since 1981
and in New Hampshire since in 1984. He is admitted before both state and federal courts.
He was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1986. Prior to
opening his own law office, Attorney Gallant was a partner in a Topsfield Law Firm for
nine years and associated with a Reading law firm for six years.
He has had extensive trial experience over the past 20 years. He tried his first criminal
trial during law school as a student prosecutor specially certified by the Massachusetts
Supreme Judicial Court. Since then, he has tried civil, commercial, divorce and criminal
trials through out the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of New Hampshire. He
has represented businesses in litigation, corporate and contractual matters. He was
corporate counsel for Spaceflight Systems Corporation. He has represented businesses
and developers before various local boards in the permitting process. He was Chairman of
the City of Peabody Conservation Commission for five years and held over one hundred
hearings involving wetlands protection issues on proposed developments in the City of
Peabody. He was appointed to the panel of arbitrators of the American Arbitration
Association. He currently is a Notary Public in Massachusetts and a Commissioner of Deeds
in New Hampshire.
He attended Suffolk Law School and received his Juris Doctor cum laude
(with honors) in 1981. He graduated from Suffolk University in 1978 with a Bachelor of
Arts Magna Cum Laude (with high honors). In 1977, he studied English Law and International
Relations as an exchange student at the University of London (Southland College) in London,
England. He attended the local school system in the City of Salem.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association,
the New Hampshire Bar Association, the Essex County Bar Association and the Peabody Bar
Association. He held the position for two years as the Secretary of the Peabody Bar
Association.
In addition to his service to the community as Chairman of the Conservation Commission,
Attorney Gallant has volunteered his time as the Squadron Commander of the Beverly
Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol, Inc (the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary).
The Squadron is located at Beverly Airport and its 85 members (both teenagers and adults)
provide aerospace education and emergency services (including search and rescue).
He has received numerous Commanders Commendations for his Outstanding Duty Performance in
Civil Air Patrol. Mark Gallant is also a FAA licensed Instrument Rated Private Pilot as
well as a CAP Mission Pilot. He is a member of the Peabody Chamber of Commerce.
